A friend of mine gave up meat for Lent and was bemoaning his culinary options. It’s pretty easy to just order that pizza without meat or choose meatless chili but as we reach the middle of Lent, the go-to options can start to feel done to death. So if you are also looking for meat free options–for Lenten Fridays, Meatless Mondays, or all year round–here are some more novel choices.

Chef Will The Palate

Chef’s Will’s cart is located at Lowe Mill, and this burgeoning spring weather is perfect for enjoying the patio tables nearby. All of his food is vegan or vegetarian so order with impunity. The menu changes regularly but expect stir fries, sandwiches, smoothies, desserts, and more.

Sady’s Bistro

With a location in both Madison and Providence, Sady’s is doubly convenient. Most of their specialty sandwiches include meat, but you have the option to build your own sandwiches or salads with whatever you like. Add to that breakfast (served all day long), soups of the day, and fruit and veggie smoothies and you have a very vegetarian friendly menu.
