It’s hard to describe Huntsville Ballet Company’s latest show, MOMIX Botanica, in words. It’s dance, color, lighting, giant puppetry, acrobatic moves and some really diverse music. MOMIX Botanica is entertaining, to put it mildly.
But don’t just take my word for it, here is what someone with credentials that matter said:
“MOMIX spellbinds audiences across the globe.”
And Our Valley Events wants to make sure you see this spellbinding show! So they’re giving away a pair of tickets to see MOMIX Botanica! Enter at the end of the post.
The Company
This show is different than the rest of The Huntsville Ballet Company’s 2012-13 season because it is performed by a completely different company of dancers. These dancers come from MOMIX, a company of dancer-illusionists under the direction of Moses Pendleton.
MOMIX was formed in 1980 by the innovative choreographer Moses Pendleton, a veteran of film, TV and opera. Botanica is the name of this work, which, as the name implies, is based on plant life. But rather than roses and tulips, think earth and water; energy and excitement….and lots of surprises.
The Performance
The way dancers can use movement and even non-movement to communicate a story has always intrigued me. The lighting and materials used can’t really be called props; they are part of the performance, moving and flowing with the artists on stage. If you can’t tell, I’m really looking forward to this!
And remember, you only have ONE chance to see this amazing show, so get your tickets NOW! And enter to win a pair at the end of the post.
