favorite 2019 Huntsville restaurants from Eat Huntsville

While coming up with a list of our most frequented restaurants of 2019, one thing is clear: we have a thing for tacos and pizza. From old Huntsville favorites like Bandito Burrito and El Cazador to new spots like Chuy’s and Oshi Poke, it was a great year for our pallets and for food reviews.

Eat Huntsville’s Favorite Spots

The votes are in! Here are the 14 Huntsville restaurants where you could find us the most in 2019. Which is your favorite?

#1 – Chuy’s

What’s not to like about an eclectic atmosphere, chips, salsa, creamy jalapeno dip, and a free nacho bar during happy hour Monday-Friday from 4-7!

#2 – Honest Coffee

Honest Coffee brings a much needed buzz to downtown Huntsville by providing one of the area’s best hangout/meeting spots as well as some of the best coffee in town.

Whether starting the day off with a cappuccino and acai bowl or ending a cold winter night with a mocha, Honest is a staple on Clinton Row.

#3 – Bandito Burrito

We should probably branch out from the green bean burrito and no carne burrito, but we know what we like. We didn’t rate this list in order but Bandito just might take the number one most frequented spot of 2019 (and 2018, and 2017…)

#4 – El Cazador

We have probably doubled our visits to El Cazador since their move from the Taco Bus to their location inside Stovehouse due to the incredible outdoor space that encourages you to hang out and stay awhile.

#5 – Blue Plate Cafe

You can find Blue Plate on almost every list of Huntsville’s must visit restaurants, and it’s obvious why. Their hashbrown casserole alone is worth the trip.

#6 – Oshi Poke

Oshi is one of the healthier options on our list 😉 Our frequent visits add up to free sushi rolls with their rewards program. 90 “fishies” equal a free sushi roll, and we recommend getting the Crunch roll!

#7 – Taco Mama

Taco Mama is fast, delicious, and always a great answer to the question of what to have for dinner. We have to give the downtown Twickenham Square location a shoutout for having the best service when ordering takeout.

The service is always unbelievably fast and efficient even if they’re crowded. And nobody is going to argue with unlimited free toppings on their burrito. At least we’re not.

#8 – Earth and Stone

Pizza, beer, and homemade ice cream is a beautiful combination. Earth and Stone makes for a great “it’s been a long week, let’s get some pizza and beer” kind of place.

#9 – Mountain Valley Pizza

Even with their somewhat limited hours, we still find ourselves at Mountain Valley either for a work lunch or dinner on Friday night since they have extended hours. The Greek is our most ordered pizza. The Margherita with balsamic is also a must.

#10 – Manic Organic

Manic Organic makes for a great work lunch when they’re at the NASA Food Truck Corral. We would love to see them at more breweries around Huntsville and are hoping for a setup at Fractal Brewing Project sometime soon.

Our most ordered menu items are the calabacitas tacos and portobello burger. Don’t forget the fries with crack sauce!

#11 – Hippea Camper

We stalk Hippea Camper’s schedule each week to figure out the next time we can catch them nearby. It’s especially great when they pop up at the Greene Street Market or team up with breweries like Fractal Brewing Project.

Their food is a game changer for Huntsville vegan culture, and they are helping to close the gap between Huntsville and nearby cities like Chattanooga and Nashville when it comes to delicious plant based food.

#12 – Green Bus Brewing

It’s always fun to pop into Green Bus to try one of their limited edition beers. We love to see New England IPAs pop up on their beer list. Being able to pair their Russian Imperial Stout with lunch at the downtown Greene Street holiday market on a cool fall day was great. Keep in mind they have kombucha on tap also.

#13 – Viet Cuisine

All fall and winter we will be having the veggie pho and banh mi sandwich. Pan fried noodles and lemongrass beef (or vegan beef) are also a must. Viet Cuisine easily gets our vote for best Vietnamese restaurant in the city. You can always count on consistency, fantastic food, great value, and friendly service.

Let’s be real, we’re at The Moon Bakeshop trying to get our hands on the highly coveted cruffin and egg muffin! The peanut butter cookies are also favorites here.
