Halloween 2024
As the air turns crisp (or at least not 90 degrees) and the leaves start falling, it’s time to celebrate all things Halloween. Huntsville has a plethora of activities throughout October, from spooky thrills to festive fun. I’ve highlighted fourteen Halloween activities below to keep you in the spirit all month long.
Huntsville Ghost Walk
Dates: September and October
The Huntsville Ghost Walk is a series of tours that all begin at Harrison Brothers Hardware Store at 6 p.m. throughout September and October on Fridays and Saturdays. This year Sunday tours have been added during October. You can choose one of three guided tours through the Twickenham District, the Old Town District, or the Downtown District. Tickets are $13 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under.
The Haunting at Hubert at Hubert Family Farms
Dates: Fridays and Saturdays in October
This corn maze nightmare is open every Friday and Saturday in October from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. There is a minimum age of 10 years old to participate and no touching is allowed. Tickets are $10 per person from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and $15 per person after.
Escape House of Terror at Rage Room Huntsville
Dates: Oct. 4, 5, 11, 12,18, 29, 25, 26, and 31; as well as Nov. 1 and 2
This is an interactive haunted escape, trying to escape the creepy creatures lurking in the dark. Ticket prices start at $16.50 per person.
Huntsville Young Professionals present The Haunt at The Electric Belle
Date: Friday, Oct. 11
HYP’s annual Halloween fundraiser returns for an unforgettable evening of music, dancing, and more, all while supporting a great cause. Tickets are $20, with prices increasing to $30 at the door.
MidCity Monster Mash at The Camp
Dates: Friday, Oct. 11-Thursday, Oct. 31
The 2024 MidCity Monster Mash kicks off on Friday, October 11, and wraps up on Halloween night. Throw on a costume (or not) and get ready for Halloween-themed drink specials, scary good food menus, fun photo ops, Fall Market every Sunday, and live music every weekend. If you want to book a space for your spooky experience at The Camp you can do it through OpenTable. There is no cover charge to enter The Camp.
Plot Twist: Oh, The Horror! at Shenanigans Comedy Theatre
Date: Saturday, Oct. 19
This event is Rated R and is an improv show that pays homage to the worst horror and sci-fi B-movies. The audience will vote on which movie plots they want to see created by the improvisers. This event is at 8 p.m. and tickets start at $10.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Princess Theatre: Center for Performing Arts
Date: Saturday, Oct. 19
Watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show with an audience of singing and prop-using enthusiasts. Prop bags must be purchased through the Princess Theatre. This interactive experience is at 7 p.m. and tickets start at $15.
3rd Annual Witches Collegium at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment
Date: Thursday, Oct. 24 – Saturday, Oct. 26
SPARKLE Studio invites you to a 3-day celebration of all things witchy. Enjoy a cauldron full of fun activities including scavenger hunts, classes, a Witch’s Walk, and more.
2024 Spooktacular 5K and Monster Mile in Downtown Huntsville
Date: Saturday, Oct. 26
Fleet Feet Huntsville & Madison invites you to join runners, walkers, ghosts, and goblins of all ages at the Spooktacular 5K Run and Monster Mile. Get crafty and creative and participate in the costume contest or, better yet, compete in costume! There are awards, for both races and all costumes. Registration starts at $20.
A Nightmare on Drag Street at Shenanigans Comedy Theatre
Date: Saturday, Oct. 26
This event is Rated R and is a Halloween celebration that includes drag performances depicting your favorite horror characters. There will also be horrifically entertaining movie clips, games, and a costume contest! The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets start at $10.
Fright Night: A Halloween Dance Party at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment
Date: Saturday, Oct. 26
Scream or dance…why decide? Come dressed in your scariest or most creative costume for a chance to win the thrilling costume contest. The Lowe Mill connecter space will be transformed with crazy décor and leave you in awe while you are dancing the night away with DJ Flip C. & Miss K. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door for $20.
Halloween and Haunted House at Orion Amphitheater
Date: Sunday, Oct. 27
The City of Huntsville Parks & Recreation and Police Department are hosting a family-friendly event with Trunk-or-Treat, bounce houses, carnival games, food trucks, and a haunted house from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. (the haunted house doesn’t start until 6 p.m.) This event is free, but please reserve your tickets in advance.
Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics at The Electric Belle
Date: Wednesday, Oct. 30
This is a multi-sensory musical experience with the haunting music of Halloween and the glow of candlelight. There is a 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. option on Oct. 30, with tickets starting at $33 per person.
Zombie Prom at The Electric Belle
Date: October 26
A spook-tacular night filled with killer tunes from funk band Smooth Fondu, spooky drink specials, eerie decorations, and a costume contest that’s to die for.
Ashley Polesak has spent the last 10 years living her best life in Huntsville, Alabama. She loves to explore all of the things that Huntsville and the surrounding areas have to offer and is a big proponent for scouting out local experiences. Ashley lives and breathes the outdoors and recreation opportunities in the area, you are very likely to run into her at a park or on a hiking trail. If she has her two rescue dogs with her, Oba and Twyla, please excuse their over-excitement, they are currently being trained and it’s a work in progress! If she had to describe herself in television characters she would choose 1/4 Eleanor Shellstrop, 1/4 Leslie Knope, 1/4 April Ludgate and 1/4 Margaery Tyrell.
