Tax Free Weekend
Go shopping! School starts back on Tuesday, August 2, and Alabama’s Tax Free Weekend gives shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of state and local tax (see list for participating cities and counties).
Historic Downtown Walking Tour
@ Constitution Village, Friday, 10 am
With weather this nice, you gotta get outside and enjoy it. This guided walking tour will take you around downtown Huntsville. Tickets – $5.
@ Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, Friday, 7:30 pm
This Jazz ensemble, co-led by trumpeter Ken Watters & vocalist Ingrid Felts, will play in the Flying Monkey Theatre. Admission – $10.
Piper & Leaf’s Splendid Shindig
@ Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, Saturday, noon – 9 pm
Join Piper & Leaf for their grand opening, showcasing local artisans, craftsmen and farmers. Enjoy tea, samples, games and watermelon!
FREE Sonia Inc. 2nd Annual Back to School Jam
@ Huntsville Botanical Garden, Sunday, 1 – 5 pm
The Back to School Jam helps low income families have an outlet to receive school supplies they would not otherwise receive. Enjoy free hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks, and ice cream. Free haircuts for students.
